“Sewing Room” (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) Project Coordinator, Community Arts Guild

Sewing Room is a community-based textile program I designed and coordinated for women ages 50 and older. Delivered both online and in person, the program offered a welcoming space to learn new sewing techniques, create original textile pieces, and build meaningful connections.

In addition to hands-on making, participants engaged in guided writing exercises and short lessons that deepened their understanding of each project’s inspiration, history, and technique. This reflective component encouraged participants to think critically about their creative choices and the stories embedded in their work.

Each session concluded with a group display at the Cedar Ridge Creative Centre Gallery, where participants showcased their completed pieces. Throughout the program, invited textile artists shared demonstrations and new methods, further expanding participants’ artistic vocabulary.
